Without addressing the culture of an organization, even the best written information security policies will do nothing more than gather dust on a shelf. TrojaTek emphasizes a holistic approach that balances business needs with keeping the enterprise safe. Invariably, what tends to happen is an organization establishes a robust set of policies that are immediately set aside the moment a business convenience appears. This is then followed by a knee-jerk reaction to information security incidents reported in the news or even within the company, which like scar tissue, results in increasing layers and complex processes overlaid on top of what was ultimately a flawed foundation in the original information security program.
Organizations must instead factor in the likely business conveniences and people’s natural tendencies and organizational culture into the design of their information security program. Having seen a wide variety of environments, we recognize the tell tale signs of flawed foundations and have the necessary experiences to help organizations of all types balance out their information security program.
Trojacek + Technology = Trojatek. The word, technology, is an ancient Greek word referring to specific procedure or art that is well understood. It often referred to methods of weaving and carpet making. We can see traces of this word in other words such as textiles. Technology, like words and language, evolves over time, yet there are still underlying patterns animating this evolution which stand the test of time. Recognizing this pattern found in nature, our founder, Shohn Trojacek, combined the word technology with his own name to found his company.

Let’s consider the spammer – the distributor of emails selling all sorts of products ranging various bodily enhancements to untold sums of cash stored in Nigerian bank vaults. Originally, email was fun, but soon many learned that the system was unprotected – so the spam grew like an invasive species with no known natural predators. Due to the underlying regulatory environment and technology, it is difficult to design a system that would serve as a natural ‘predator’ against the spammer; however, a natural defense could have been designed. Hindsight is 20/20. What if there were a company that provided a ‘credit’ rating or trust worthiness score on email addresses? Is such an approach sustainable?
